WSOJ Sock Hop and 50 Year Celebration

Dear Sojourners and Friends,

Well, it's getting close ... time for our 1950's Sock Hop and 50 year celebration party for Starlight Shrine #1 on Oct. 17th beginning at 1:00 p.m. This is going to be a fun, fun event that you and your family and friends won't want to miss!

If you need tickets to buy or sell, please contact Soj. Stacie Schwartz or me. Or, please let one of us know that you'll be purchasing your ticket(s) at the door so we can firm up our food and beverage head count.

Starlight Shrine #1 members, please make sure that Soj. Jean Castro knows what side dish (rolls & butter, salad & dressing, or dessert) you are bringing. I am taking care of preparing the main pasta and vegetable dish and have already obtained the items needed for the no-host non-alcholic bar drinks (please note-a limited selection will be available, this will not be a complete "bar").

Decorating and set up will begin about 11 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 17th, in case you are able to come early and help out. Our celebration decorations are multi-colored helium filled balloons-themed with white table coverings and black plates that are intended to simulate LP records.

Soj. Wanieta is bringing her keyboard, amplifier and speaker system and will be ready to play 1950's music for our listening and dancing enjoyment.

And, of course, a clean-up crew is needed to help Soj. Jean and Soj. John after the event.

Okay! So, get those 1950's Sock Hop outfits ready (or comfortable casual clothes) and we'll see you next Sunday!

Dear Family and friends,

Paul took a fall last month and was in the hospital a week and then to rehab for about three weeks. He was in Eugene at Sacred Heart River Bend Hospital where surgery was done and then to South Hills Rehab. He had a compound fracture in the lower lumber No. 2. Had very serve pain and still is having pain and not strong enough to walk more than 150 feet with the walker. He is not doing well enough to come home. Will wait to see about making the ramp and etc. at home for him. I have been checking out all the assisted living and foster homes. Wow, what a job. He must be moved soon. I have finally arranged a place in Roseburg, Oregon that is about 35 miles from Elkton. The close one in Sutherlin 27 miles was full and had a waiting list also check out places in Cottage Grove. (Eugene was 55 miles one way every day.) I stayed at my friend Jackie's home while Paul was in the hospital as she was only 6 miles from the hospital.

Paul will now be at Callahan's Assisted Living Community. This place will give him the care he needs with meals and snacks. They even have an ice cream parlor!

Please relay this to others as he has enjoyed the many cards and prayers he has received.

Love and hugs to all,
