November meeting info and birthdays

Hello, Sojourners and Friends,

Happy Nevada Day and Halloween (Oct. 31st)!

The Starlight Shrine #1 regularly stated meeting will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2009, beginning at 3 p.m. Our "Grateful for Our Blessings" potluck dinner will occur after the meeting.

And, a quick reminder that there will be a Ceremonial meeting on Saturday, December 5, 2007!

Words to the music for the 11/07/09 meeting:

Opening Ode

“Joyful, Joyful We Adore Thee” (Psalm 71:23)

Verse 1 only:

Joyful, joyful we adore Thee, God of glory, Lord of love,

Hearts unfold like flow’rs before Thee, Opening to the sun above

Melt the clouds of sin and sadness, Drive the dark of doubt away,

Giver of immortal gladness, Fill us with the light of day!

Closing Ode

“Just a Closer Walk With Thee” (Philippians 4:13)

Refrain only:

Just a closer walk with Thee, Grant it, Jesus, is my plea.

Daily walking close to Thee, Let it be, dear Lord, let it be.

“Come, Ye Thankful People, Come” (Psalm 65:11)

Verse 1:

Come, ye thankful people, come; raise the song of harvest home;

All is safely gathered in, ere the winter storms begin.

God, our Maker, doth provide for our wants to be supplied.

Come to God’s own temple, come; raise the song of harvest home.

Verse 2:

All the world is God’s own field, fruit unto His praise to yield;

Wheat and tares together sown, unto joy or sorrow grown.

First the blade, and then the ear, then the full corn shall appear;

Lord of harvest, grant that we wholesome grain and pure may be.

Verse 3:

For the Lord our God shall come, and shall take His harvest home;

From His field shall in that day all offenses purge away.

Give His angels charge at last in the fire the tares to cast,

But the fruitful ears to store in His garner evermore.

Verse 4:

Even so, Lord, quickly come to thy final harvest home;

Gather Thou thy people in, free from sorrow, free from sin.

There forever purified, in Thy presence to abide.

Come, with all Thine angels come; raise the glorious harvest home.
